As part of the implementation of the ‘E-baby’ project, which began in November last year, 600 babies were registered electronically in the registry books of the Municipality Centar, according to the official website of the Municipality Centar.

As a reminder, the project was launched on the initiative of PARCO in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and it is implemented through the Program for Strengthening Public Institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the German Society for International Cooperation – GIZ.

Since the beginning of the project implementation, 600 unique identification numbers have been determined electronically, which greatly facilitated and shortened the procedure for determining identification numbers for newborn children. The process of registering newborns is significantly shortened because the applicant-parent completes the entire procedure with just one visit to the premises of the Registry Office of the Municipality Centar.

“In this way, the time that parents need to obtain birth certificates has been significantly reduced. The waiting time, i.e. determining the birth certificate number for newborns, in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton and the Agency for Identification Documents, Records and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IDDEEA), has been shortened from the previous 7 to 10 days to 20 minutes. With one arrival, the parents, after receiving the report from the hospital, can complete the procedure of registering the newborns in the birth register. The General Administration Service obtained all documentation through official means, except for the certificate of residence. In the meantime, in cooperation with the IDDEEA, and based on the signed agreement, the possibility has been created that in the coming period, during the registration of newborns, documentation on residence records will also be obtained through official means, which represents another important step forward in improving services to citizens. Our satisfaction is greater because the project has survived, that it has fully come to life. The Municipality Centar is the only local community in the Sarajevo Canton, and probably beyond, which has made a step forward in this way and brought the service closer and easier to the parents of newborn children. We have extremely good cooperation with the Public Institution General Hospital ‘Prim. Ph.D. Abdulah Nakaš’ and the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, where they provide us with reports on the birth of babies within 24 hours. The continuity of the project exists, new service improvements are being worked on every day”, explained Jasna Beba, assistant for general administration-
