Dnevni avaz: The former Prime Minister, Tony Blair is the only British candidate for the new functions in the European Union, stipulated by the Lisboan Agreement, and he will be a candidate for a chairman of the EU, has been notified today by the actual British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown.

He has said that no other British will be nominated for new functions in the EU and has denied the information that the British Minister of Foreign Affairs, David Miliband intends to nominate himself for the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy.

However, the European diplomats think that the Belgian Prime Minister, Herman van Rompei has a better chance to win the competition for the EU chairman, than Mister Blair, reports Reuters.

Blair, who was a British Prime Minister from 1997 to 2007, has perhaps lost the support of other Member States, because of the fact that he has supported the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and because of the fact that Great Britain has not imposed the Euro, has been said by Brown.

– It is obvious that some think that a personality of the Prime Minister was controversial because of the decisions, which had to be adopted by them, but that is the policy – Brown has concluded, has been notified by the British Press Agency.
