From October 1st, 2009, all health care centers in the Republic of Srpska will no longer collect the money from bio-chemical findings.

The director of the Health insurance fund of the RS, Goran Kljajčin has already sent such request to the directors of all health care centers, and this is just a first step in ensuring a better laboratory diagnostics to all the citizens in this BiH entity.

The goal is to enable each health care center to provide the same services, which can be received in hospitals, so the patients do not have to go to hospitals to obtain such services.

In accordance with the general principle, by which some services can be received with a verified health care booklet in the health care institution, the insurers in the RS could have received the basic laboratory findings in the health care center, while the services of bio-chemical and micro-biologic analyzes have been concluded with hospitals.

Because of such "division" of services by the levels of health protection, the insurers, who live in municipalities without hospitals, were forced to travel to hospitals, in cases in which they wanted to get a service without additional payment, except for participation.

In the meantime, majority of health care centers has been enabled for providing bio-chemical laboratory diagnostic, by which the conditions to ensure a better availability of this kind of health care service to all the RS citizens have been ensured, which has also been defined by this year’s contract with the health care centers.

By the control, which has been implemented in all health care centers in the RS in August, it has been determined that the services of bio-chemical laboratory diagnostics do not get paid in 33 health care centers. This means that the insurers (with a verified booklet) can receive these services without paying, or they are only paying participation, if they have not been exempted from this obligation.

In 14 health care centers, these services are being paid mostly by the price-list of the Fund, reports portal ekapija.
