Dnevni avaz: Many men and women with small children can be seen at locations for issuing of passports. Whom ever we ask – for how long they have been waiting for their passports, they would say since morning. Many of them are not even sure if they will get a chance to come to any of the four desks in building of the Administration and internal support of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the canton Sarajevo, because the hall is full.
Fewer crowds for identification cards
At locations for issuing of identification cards there are fewer crowds. Čomor has explained to us that the system is also being burdened by issuing of all personal documents, but that citizens submit fewer requests for personal identification cards than for passports, especially over summer.
The employees, once they overtake several requests, inform that the system is down and this happens all the time, people wait for eight hours. The line goes to the street. According to Nihada Čomor, spokesperson of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the canton Sarajevo, long lines have begun since June 26.
– Our employees cannot influence functioning of system. Some technical problems have shown up and the Identification Documents, Data Exchange and Evidence Agency (IDDEA) will solve those. People wait for whole day just because the system goes down all the time – has been said by Čomor. We were not bale to find out how long will this last for, not even from the IDDEA spokesperson, Amila Opardija.
– The system is complex and it still does not function the way it should, and it must be tested in practice. We have announced it. This is the first time that all the master offices have been connected into the one. We hope that the situation will be improved in the upcoming period – Opardija has explained.
