Dnevni avaz: At the latest next week, there will be known a final look of BiH biometric passports, which will be created in the "Bundesdruckerei", state printing company of Germany, has been confirmed for "Dnevni avaz" by Minister of Security of BiH, Sredoje Nović, by reminding that issuing of biometric passports to citizens will begin from December 31st, this year.
For an eye of a common citizen, those changes will relate to a visible biometric chip, with fingerprint and signature of the passport owner, which will be inserted into the last cover of this document.
Price around 70 KM?
Even though there is a statement in the Ministry that they tend not to set a big price of new passport in relation to the old one, definitive price has not been determined yet. But, according to unofficial information, citizens of BiH will have to pay for a new passport around 70 KM, while the neighbors in Serbia pay around 40 KM for their biometric traveling documents.
But, more changes will be seen by those who understand the security protection or, those whose profession is creating the false documents, because by introducing of new passports their job will be much harder.
Already from June the system of issuing of documents should be much safer, for which experts claim it will be the most modern in region. From July issuing of biometric passports will be tested out. By then, all master offices in BiH will be connected, by which the possibility of issuing of passports on the basis of fake confirmations on citizenship or birth certificates will theoretically be excluded. Besides that, it will also be easier for citizens, because they will not have to submit those certifications and photographs for issuing of new passport.
Namely, registrar in municipality will electronically confirm to the MIA officer that some person is a citizen of BiH and that they posses birth certificate and confirmation on citizenship. With a new system it will be impossible that one person in BiH gets two documents with different personal data.
Because, by each request for issuing of passport on the basis of fingerprint, there will also be done control if that fingerprint is already in database and with some other personal data. Since the law has defined that current passports are valid until the deadline written in document, there will be no need for citizens to put themselves in lines for a new passport right on December 31st.
