Dnevni avaz: 142 municipalities of BiH are of a key significance for success of the efforts BiH contributes in the process of the European integrations, has been said yesterday by the High Representative Miroslav Lajčak, by opening the conference "To understand the EU: Challenge for the local government" in the Sarajevo hotel "Radon Plaza".

Parliament has out of the plans only lifted salaries

Lajčak has also mentioned the political events in BiH. He has expressed the hope that the leaders of the Social Democratic Party, the Croatian Democratic Party and the Party of Independent Social Democrats, will these days agree on a meeting at which they will quicken the implementation of the Agreement from Prud.

– Recent report of the CCI has shown that only 7.9% of the working plan of the Parliament of BiH has been fulfilled. The only indicator where the plan has been fulfilled 100% is increasing of the salaries – Lajčak has said.

At the meeting which has been organized by the Netherlands organization for development SNV, the mayors of municipalities and representatives of the local communities from the region, have gathered, and besides Lajčak, the introducers have also been Ferhat Mustafić, the chairman of the Assembly of Union of municipalities and towns of the FBiH, Radomir Kezunović, the chairman of the Union of municipalities and towns of the RS, and Courtney Bickert, director of the SNV for Balkans.

Lajčak has said that by now only the higher levels of the Government and administration have been totally dealing with the question of the European integrations.

– There should be an inversed approach, and not only because more than a half of directives of the EU are being implemented on municipal level. Municipalities are the participants whose role is very significant in the process of integrations in the EU. It could be said that they have a central role. However, they have not really participated enough in preparation of BiH for the access to the EU – has been said by the High Representative.

He explained that the Euro-integrations offer huge chances to municipalities, because 50% of money of the European funds is being realized on municipal level, and even more than 80% in some areas.
