Nezavisne novine: SARAJEVO – The Government has confirmed the Draft Law on Conflict of Interests in the FBiH and has sent it to the parliamentarian procedure, and its adoption is expected by announcing the final results of municipal election in BiH. This has been said after yesterday’s session by Feliks Vidović, Minister for Justice of the FBiH.

“The Law is totally harmonised with the same law on the state level and it relates to elected and nominated officials in the FBiH and on lower levels of the Government. On some solutions from the Law it has been insisted by the OHR, and on some of them could be discussed, but we left it to the Legislative Authority”, Vidović has said.

According to the Draft Law, for elected officials – bearers of the Executive Government and Advisors, it is forbidden for them to be among the members of the Administrative and Observing Boards, the Administration of Public Companies, or to be the authorized persons in them, to act in foundations and non governmental organizations which are financed from the budget with more than 10.000 KM, but they also make contracts on providing services in individual amount bigger than 5.000 KM. In the same time it has been anticipated that the elected or nominated official needs to reserve himself/herself from voting for decisions on some private company in which he/she has financial interest. Selected or nominated official or advisor, who is in conflict of interests, has to dismiss himself/herself from one of the functions, and existing conflict of interests confirms the Central Election Commission (CEC) of BiH.

According to this Draft Law, the Prime Minister of the FBiH, Nedžad Branković could keep his shares in the Fund BIG, but he says that he is not sorry because he sold them to the major fund owner.

“This way the journalists frustrated by the missed investigations and independent experts of the Venice Commission, who are the bearers of the list of Social Democrat Party, do not have to continue working on this”, said Branković and added when he was earlier selected for minister, he dismissed himself from the position of the president of the Sport Alliance of BiH, because that function was in a conflict of interests with the ministerial.

“If I was in conflict of interests, the CEC would sanctioned me earlier”, Branković has said.
