Nezavisne novine: SARAJEVO – Nobody in institutions of BiH can say with certainty how much does the transportation of around 20.000 employees cost, because there are no unified rules in this area.

This has been confirmed yesterday in the Ministry of Finances and Treasury of BiH, where they expect that adoption of the new law on salaries will regulate this area as well.

"There is a decree of the Council of Ministers on salaries and other remunerations for the employees from 2000, but that does not cover either the police or the army, because they have their own rulebooks. In all institutions the transportation of the employees is being paid differently and this area needs to be systemically ordered", said Ranko Šakota, assistant of the minister of finances.

Rulebooks of the institutions of BiH stipulate that an employee can have a monthly ticket for public transportation in Sarajevo if they are two kilometers away from the work place. Employees have a right to have an annual ticket as well for public transport if the distance is greater, and they also can take a cash amounting monthly transportation expenses. Employees in institutions of BiH, with a CIPS residence certificate can calculate what are their daily transportation expenses, so their expenses are refunded.

Dragan Savić, director of the Service for Joint Affairs of the Institutions of BiH, explains that there were dilemmas what was to be considered a public transport, because many who live in the Sarajevo region come from the other entity, so there are more public transporters.

"We tried to order this area, but immediately complaints of employees ensued. That will be hard until the law on salaries is adopted, which stipulates that transport is regulated by bylaws", said Savić.

Employees from East Sarajevo wrote even a petition to the Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Nikola Špirić, asking for the same treatment for the employees from Sarajevo, because they use the same transport.

Neđo Đurđić, representative of the Union of employees of institutions of BiH, said that they will insist on employer providing transport for all employees, but in just and unified manner.
