Nezavisne novine: PODGORICA – The European Commission presented the plan of future union for Mediterranean, which will be established in mid July at the summit in Paris, and which will consist of 44 countries, among which are BiH and Montenegro.

In the new integration, foreseen are 27 EU member countries, 13 member or observer countries of the “Barcelona Process”, as well as Croatia and Monaco. This was reported by Montenegrin media.

The European Union started in 1995 the “Barcelona Process” as a political forum for cooperation with the countries on the southern coast of the Mediterranean Sea.

The new initiative is entitled “Barcelona Process: the Union for the Mediterranean”, in order to stress that it is about the continuation of that process.

“The new union is supposed to strengthen our relations with the Mediterranean, giving it the political impulse”, said the advisor for foreign relations of the European Commission Benita Ferero Voldner.
