Nezavisne novine: SARAJEVO – The Stabilisation and Association Agreement between BiH and the EU could be signed in April this year, if the BiH parliament adopts the set of laws on the police reform.

This was said yesterday by  Osman Topčagić, director of the Directorate for European Integrations.

“If we adopt the laws on the police reform, harmonised with the European requirements, the Agreement with the EU can be signed in April. So, we still have time to sign the agreement within a planned deadline”, said Topčagić, after yesterdays meeting of the Reform Monitoring Team in BiH.

Pierre Mirel, director for west Balkans in the European Commission Directorate General for Enlargement, could not be precise whether the laws on establishment of seven new state police institutions would be enough for signing the Stabilisation and Association Agreement.

“The Council of Ministers of BiH finally adopted the set of laws and forwarded it to the Parliament, which is a big step in this process. Proposed laws I cannot comment, because I did not have a chance to read them, but we expect the political leaders to implement their agreement from Mostar”, Morel pointed out.

Representatives of BiH and the EC, gathered in the Reform Monitoring Team, for the past two days analysed the progress of BiH in key reform areas. The EU commended the adoption of the Law on Medications, Insurance, Registration of Enterprises, the progress in the areas of air traffic, cooperation with the Hagom and the public administration reform.
