Nezavisne novine: According to data of the Agency for Statistics of BiH, employees in the Brčko District have had the lowest salaries for June (773 KM), which is a serious warning, has been pointed out by the chairman of the Union of the District, Ilija Kalajdžić. He has said that such trend, which dates since 2004, should finally be stopped.
"Especially warning-wise is the fact that 5.200 workers in construction and trade, which is 1/3 of the total number of employed in the District, have a salary of only 450 KM, and that more money is being paid in the Pension-Disability Fund and the Health Care Fund in Brčko for 3.000 employed on the budget, than for 13.000 workers in economy", Kalajdžić has said and added that the main reasons are in the facts that the employers "calculate the contributions on the lowest bases, while workers are quiet because of the fear".
Because of the reduction of revenues in the budget of the District, the mayor of District, Dragan Pajić has announced these days possible reduction of salaries of those, who are being financed from the joint counter. In the Union they think that in the year of recession and constant increases of costs of every-day life, saving should be set up differently, while quickening the process of agreements of the Government, employers and the Union, and signing the general collective agreement.
