At today’s session the Council of Ministers of BiH has determined by majority of votes the Proposal Law on Holidays of BiH and days off, which will be delivered by the Ministry of Civil Affairs to the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH for deliberation by the basic legislative procedure.

Previous non-existence of the unified legal regulation has a consequence that on days off for civil authorities, economic associations and other legal persons and forms of organizing it is being decided separately for each case. Non-existence of regulation for national holidays brings into the situation that the days off are not in parallel, which reflects negatively on work of all government levels.

Since the nations and citizens in BiH, according to their religion and tradition, celebrate different religious holidays, there is a need to precise by the law the mentioned differentiations, and that the most significant holidays of each religion should be declared as days off in BiH.

The Law stipulates four days in year to be celebrated as national holidays, holidays for all citizens of BiH, and those are: New Year, 1st of May, May 9 – Anti-Fascism Day and the Europe Day, as well as June 26 – Day of Violence Victims Support. Besides that, days off in BiH have been determined for the time of religious holidays of Islamic, Catholic, Orthodox and Jewish followers.

The Council of Ministers of BiH has also determined the Proposal Law on Changes and Amendments to the Law on Ministries and other government authorities of BiH. Proposer, the Ministry of Justice, after the technical drafting, will deliver the Proposal to the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH for deliberation by the basic legislative procedure.

The changes and amendments harmonize the Law on ministries and other government authorities of BiH with the laws, by which the new administrative organizations have been established or competencies of already established government authorities, administrative organizations, services and other institutions of BiH.

At the same time, it is being defined that by inuring this law, the Administration for geodetic and property-legal affairs of BiH will stop working, and the decision on status of equipment, work appliances, documentation, offices and employed will be adopted by the Council of Ministers of BiH on the proposal of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH within 60 days from the day of inuring this law, has been notified from the Intelligence Office of the Council of Ministers of BiH Secretary General.
