The Estonian Parliament has accepted the Law which on elections in 2011 stipulates a possibility of voting by a mobile phone, by which Estonia will become the first country in the world, in which the voters will be able to elect their representatives through a mobile device. At the last year's parliamentary elections, Estonians were able to vote over the internet. With the usual forms of declarations, the Law accepted last week also predicts voting by a special system of mobile voting, which has already been tested in usage. This system predicts special authorized chips which will voters receive, has been said by a spokesperson of the agency SK Certification Center, which issues the identification documents in Estonia. The chip will verify the identity of the voter and authorize their participation in voting system, has been said by a spokesperson Raul Kaidro. The system has shown as effective and safe during testing which has been done by an independent agency. Kaidro has said that he expects this kind of voting in 2011 will be the first one in the world, even though the neighboring countries Sweden and Finland posses the software and technical abilities for implementing the similar "mobile elections", reports e-kapija.
