The Faculty of Education of the University of Travnik hosted the first International Statistical Conference SSE 2022, which was held on May 27 and 28, 2022.
The conference was sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Science, Youth, Culture and Sports of Central Bosnia Canton, and the conference partner is the Faculty of Technical Studies, University of Travnik and co-organizer is the Faculty of Teacher Education, University of Zagreb.
After the protocol part of the conference opening, a presentation of papers was organized.
Prof. Dr. Ferid Otajagić, Deputy State Coordinator for Public Administration Reform, spoke on the topic: Legal and factual equality of countries in international relations.
The Charter of the United Nations (UN) itself stipulates that “the organization is based on the sovereign equality of all its states.” However, with the introduction of five permanent members to the UN Security Council, with the right of veto, this legal equality is being violated.
The challenges, that is, the wars at the end of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century, have shown that the factual or real equality of states in international relations is even more unattainable and manifests itself as obvious inequality. Therefore, Prof. Dr. Otajagić and co-authors of the work, Mr. Mehmed Halilović, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Mr. Bojan Jožanc, a diplomat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, believe that the United Nations Charter is already an outdated constitution of the World Organization.
In this context, they initiate and propose amendments to the UN Charter in terms of establishing true equality of all sovereign states. As a perspective, they emphasize the need to strengthen the integration, efficiency and operability of international institutions and international law.
The participants of the conference were respectable experts in their fields and guests from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, the USA and Kosovo, as well as students from the Faculty of Education at the University of Travnik. They talked about the topics, “Contribution of statistics to the improvement of management in education”, “Assessment and evaluation in mathematics learning”, “Software platforms in higher education institutions during COVID 19”, “Effects of information technology use in public administration of Bosnia and Herzegovina”, “Comparative Payment Analysis, Information Security and Cryptography”, etc.
The importance of the conference itself is reflected in the unique opportunity for mutual exchange of approaches and examples of good practice between professors, domestic and foreign experts.
