As a result of cooperation between the Public Administration Reform Coordinator’s Office in BiH and the Faculty for Public Administration, management of the Office visited the Faculty on December 26, 2007 as lecturers. On that occasion they held a lecture on the Public Administration Reform in BiH. The lecture gathered over 60 students who, with great interest, participated in the presentation and discussion with Ms. Nevenkom Savić, state coordinator for the public administration reform and Mr. Suad Musić, deputy coordinator.
The lecture comprised thematic presentation of the vision and mission of the Coordinator’s Office, its role in the reform process, presentation of the strategic documents on which the reform is based, as well as the implementation structures and activities so far in this area.
After a short presentation, there was a space for student’s questions, where it was obvious that they are interested in the public administration reform as a whole. Students actively participated in the lecture and asked many interesting and practical questions. Questions were related to the duration of the public administration reform in BiH, concrete results, the role of the Civil Service Agency in the reform, the number of the civil servants and stipulations related to it. Students also had concrete questions related to reform areas from the Action Plan 1: public finances, human resource management, administrative procedure, information technologies.
Ms. Savić and Mr. Musić answered all the questions and made activities of the Office and the public administration reform process in Bosnia and Herzegovina closer to the students. They also made them acquainted with the most significant requirements for the administration in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the context of Euro integrations, and with the planned steps on that road.
General impression, judging by the attendance, discussion and the number of questions is that the lecture was extremely useful, both for students, whose academic focus is public administration, and for the Coordinator’s Office who presented its work and the significance of the reform for young people, civil servants to be, and leaders of the reformed and improved public administration in BiH.
Also, to mutual satisfaction, further cooperation has been agreed between the Office and the Faculty for Public Administration, as well as further steps in a direction of academic and practical cooperation.
