Dnevni avaz: The next year will be a key year for the future of the whole region and BiH, has been said yesterday for "Dnevni avaz" by Hidajet Biščević, Secretary General of the Regional Council for Cooperation (RCC), after the meeting with the Commissioner of the European Union, Olli Rehn in Brussels.
Biščević has yesterday in Brussels opened the Liaison Office of the RCC, which will assist in closer cooperation of the EU and the regional authority for cooperation.
He has said that this has been a joint grade of the Commissioner Rehn and the RCC on the situation in the region and that the EU has positively graded work of this authority.
By opening the Liaison Office, as Biščević has said, not only political symbolism was confirmed, but also formal stronger connection between the countries of the region and the EU.
"That connection will be of a special significance in the period to come, when there will be a start of application and implementation of the so-called multi-user strategy of the EU for the South-East Europe. Then the governments of the countries of this region will be called to apply on the cross-border basis with the projects from the area of energy, infrastructure and other areas for the funds in which the EU has allocated from 400 to 600 million Euros" says Biščević. He has pointed out that during this conversation they have concluded that "the whole former Yugoslavia space enters a very demanding and decisive year".
Permanent mechanism
Biščević has announced that they will soon establish the permanent mechanism for cooperation between the European Commission, the RCC and the representatives of the governments in the region, which will be meeting once per month in Sarajevo, base of the Secretariat General of the RCC.
This permanent mechanism should coordinate the work on the cross-border projects for which the financial assistance from the European Union and international financial institutions will be asked.
