On May 11, 2022, the second meeting of the Coordination Committee of the Digital Summit for the Western Balkans was held in Brussels, at which the PAR Coordinator also had the opportunity to participate.
On behalf of BiH, the key representative is the Ministry of Transport and Communications of BiH as the main bearer and coordinator of activities envisaged through the activities and programs implemented by the Regional Cooperation Council and defined by the accompanying Action Plan.
The meeting was chaired by representatives of the economy of Kosovo host and representatives of the management and programs of the RCC, European Commission institutions DG CONNECT, DG NEAR, DG Research and Innovation and the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action.
The contents, speakers, roles and obligations on certain topics of the Digital Summit planned for September 2022 in Pristina were presented.
This year’s focus will be on Digital skills and topics related to Network and Service Connectivity, Trust and Security, and Digital Economy.
Planned parallel events and B2B aspects are also presented and will serve to raise awareness of these topics and to mobilize all stakeholders outside the administration because they are important participants in these topics and processes.
This meeting is a continuation of the efforts and commitment of the PARCO for active participation in regional activities aimed at improving the coordination of overall PAR processes, especially in the field of improving services for citizens.
Participation in regional programs and projects would enable the acceleration of digitalization reform processes in BiH, which are very often limited by internal dilemmas. Joint actions and initiatives are needed to enhance regional cooperation, support in digital integration, as well as exchange information in an open, interoperable, secure and reliable way, giving priority to regional interoperability and trust services.
The effects of such projects would be further enlightened as they would touch larger groups of beneficiaries, which would promote better mobility of citizens of countries in the region, but also encourage competitiveness within the region.
