Today, the representatives of PARCO, the Agency for Statistics in BiH and Transparency International BiH held a workshop for civil servants of state institutions of BiH in the field of proactive transparency, explaining the concept of open government and the benefits of a transparent approach in publishing data.
As it was said at the workshop, proactive transparency means that institutions publish data regularly, even when they are not required to do so. By adopting 38 standards of proactive transparency, greater trust in state institutions is gained. This reduces the possibility of corruption in institutions, and also reduces the requirements and inquiries under the Law on Free Access to Information (FOIA).
Also, civil servants were introduced to the online system for auto-assessment of compliance with the standards of proactive transparency.
The hosts of today’s training workshop were Dragan Ćuzulan State Coordinator for Public Administration Reform, Vedrana Faladžić Senior Expert for Public Relations in the Public Administration Reform Coordinator’s Office, Emsad Dizdarević Program Manager at Transparency International BiH, and Head of the Editorial and Publishing Department in the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina Alen Mrgud.
Also, the workshop was held as part of the Open Government Week, which is marked by PARCO together with the Open Government Partnership (OGP) initiative.
