The United States of America have given a green light to the nomination of Austrian diplomat Valentin Inzko to the position of the High Representative of the European Union in BiH, writes the Austrian paper Kurier in its Wednesday issue.

The paper writes that on Tuesday night Inzko has officially become a successor of Slovak Miroslav Lajčak. At the end of March, at the meeting of the management board of the Peace Implementation Council (PIC) in Sarajevo, an official pronouncement of the new high representative will happen.

Kurier also states that the BiH media has earlier published that Washington was not for Austrian, and remind that the PIC is an international authority consisted of 55 countries, responsible for monitoring of the implementation of the Dayton peace agreement signed in 1995.

Valentin Inzko was the first after-war Austrian Ambassador in Bosnia and Herzegovina whose mandate has lasted from 1996. to 1999. He currently works as the Ambassador of his country in Slovenia, and was one of the proposed politicians of the EU after Lajčak has submitted his dismissal to a position of the special representative of the EU in our country.

The Austrian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Michael Spindelegger has replied to the quotations of this paper: "This is a great confirmation of work and experience of the Ambassador Inzko. Also, it is a clear sign of recognition of role and reputation which Austria has on Balkans."
