The City of Vienna has decided to make a huge step forward in organization of the city's system of kindergartens and day nurseries by imposing a free stay for children in these institutions.
At the press conference, which has been held for this reason, the mayor of Vienna, Michael Häupl, has announced a free stay for all children between the age of 0 and 6, which practically means the assistance for middle class. Namely, children from the socially endangered families are already exempted from paying a stay inside the Vienna's system of kindergartens. Parents, who earn more, have been paying by now different amounts – so the third has been paying a half of the amount, the third the total amount, while poorer families have not been paying anything. From this fall, this system will be improved.
To the questions of journalists, about the fact that the city of Vienna wants to finance this huge move, a mayor has answered that there is no reason to worry and that Vienna can afford these exemptions for families. Planned has also been the introduction of the same exemptions for private kindergartens.
The exemption of parents from paying a stay of their children in kindergartens will cost 340 million Euros per year. The deputy mayor and councilor for finances, Renate Brauner, has justified this amount by the fact that this news means a huge assistance for families and that the whole project represents a big political and economic step for Vienna, reports portal svevijesti.ba
