Dnevni list: According to the results of research which has been done by the Market Research Company GfK of BiH, the number of Internet users in BiH has been increased in this year and it is 32%. ''Using the Internet in BiH increases from year to year. Even though it is still not at the level of some developed countries, nor at the level of some countries from the region, the number of users increased by 3% in one year is a progress'', experts claim.
The GfK investigation on users of the Internet in BiH is already being done third year one after another. The first time it has been done, only 21% of BiH citizens has used the Internet, and last year that number was 29%. Meaning, each third citizen older than 15 has used the Internet. According to the newest research, number of users in the Federation is 37% and it is higher than in the RS, where it is 24%. Also, the data that in urban regions the percentage of 39% is bigger than in rural, where it is 24%, is not surprising. The research has shown that the Internet is being used mostly by younger population, somewhere between 15 and 24 (72%), while the percentage of population above 55 is much smaller and it is 7%. However, this is also a significant increase when it is known that this percentage was only 1% last year.
When speaking of the type of the access of household, the most representative remains the dial-up with 34%, followed by ADSL, which according to the research has been present in 30% of households. ''ADSL has a big percentage of users, in a rural part of BiH as well, probably because of the fact that the cable network has been significantly less developed in rural regions, so the access to the cable Internet is less possible'', has been said from the GfK BH.
