Nezavisne novine: MOSTAR – Jose Sanchez Allegra, deputy head of the Directorate of the EU for enlargement for BiH and Albania, thinks that BiH has to turn to other reform processes, as well and not only to reforms of the police, RTV service and cooperation with the Hague.
“The Stabilization and Association Agreement is only a framework after which the whole country must turn to fulfilling the conditions, so further progress in association with the EU could be achieved”, concluded Sanchez.
He clarified that adoption of the laws on police reform with continuation of progress in other key areas, which are conditions for signing the SAA, will lead to final signing of that agreement.
“If the laws on police reform are adopted, then we can expect that BiH signs the SAA by the end of April or by the end of May at the latest. However, that would mean that BiH has to implement significantly more reforms, so it could finally join the EU. BiH must direct attention to overall reform process, which is necessary for association of your country with the EU”, said Sanchez.
Director of the Directorate for European Integrations of BiH, Osman Topčagić, said that at the end of the year, the EU will measure the progress of BiH on the basis of the adopted laws, and not on the basis of the laws which were prepared or are yet to be adopted.
