Nezavisne novine: SARAJEVO – After on Tuesday the vacancy notice for new ombudsmen of BiH was closed, the selection of the best candidates will be followed by the representatives of the OSCE and the OHR. This was confirmed by Dušanka Majkić, the member of the parliamentary Commission for election of ombudsman.
“We left rather bad impression during implementation of the vacancy procedure for the auditor of BiH and previous time for the ombudsman of BiH, so the OSCE and the OHR are now directly involved by submitting amendments to the Rules of Procedure of the Commission”, said Majkić. She reminded that according to the Law on Ombudsmen in BIH, this institution consists of three persons from all three constituent nations of BiH.
“This means that nobody is preventing Serb from the FBiH or Bosniak and Croat from the RS to apply, but question is final vote in the BH parliament”, clarified Majkić.
It is still not known how many candidates applied for the position of ombudsman, since it has to be waited for the applications submitted by mail. Same vacancy notice was issued few months ago, but the candidates chosen by the Commission did not win the needed majority in the House of Representatives of the parliament. The member of the Commission, Hazim Rančić, said that this time they invited also the representatives of the NGOs to monitor the work of the Commission.
