The High Representative and the Special Representative of the EU, Miroslav Lajčak has today in Sarajevo met with the chairman of the Council of Ministers, Nikola Špirić, and has addressed the Council of Ministers at the regular session, in order for them to talk about the priorities of the integration in the EU, which must be re-actualized.
"Current approach does not function. The existing blockade of progress towards the EU is a big problem. The European Union is ready to offer all the possible assistance, but the EU must see the Institutions of BiH on all levels as the partners in this process", Lajčak has said.
“BiH cannot insist on submitting the candidature for membership in the EU, or on abolishing the visas, if it previously does not prove that its institutions seriously understand their obligations. Candidature application in this moment, when the reforms for membership in the EU have been blocked or not implemented at all, will only impair the tendencies of BiH to join the EU”, Lajčak has warned.
"EU does not give the blank checks to anyone".
The High Representative has also called on the Council of Minister to initiate, without adjournments, the procedure of nominating the empty director positions, in accordance to the law. He appealed on the Council of Ministers to adopt the Strategy of implementation of the Annex VII, which has been on the agenda of today's session, and has called on adoption of the list of measures for combat against corruption, which are required for the process of liberalization of visa regime, has been notified from the OHR/EUSR.
