Investigations of the Transparency International (TI) performed the previous and this year on the rate of corruption in 180 countries of the world, have shown that BiH takes the 93rd place.
“BiH is facing again the droop on the scale of Index of perception of corruption and now with the grade of 3.2, it takes the 93rd place”, has been said by Srđan Blagovčanin, executive director of the Transparency International on presentation of the Index of perception of corruption, which has been held on 23rd September 2008 in Sarajevo. Blagovčanin has also said that this time BiH has gone through a droop and according to the Index; it is currently the most corrupted country in the region.
The Index is ranking the countries from the one with the smallest rate of corruption to those in which corruption is the most present, on basis of grade for the each separately (they are going in line from 10 – without corruption, to 1 – absolutely corrupted country).
Representatives of the Transparency International have also presented results of investigation of the “Financing political parties”.
Investigating perception of corruption before the local election has shown an absolute disappointment of population in political parties.
Although 70% of questioned persons think that political parties are the most corrupted institutions, and 60% of them believe that the quality of life will not improve after upcoming local elections. Investigation has been performed in June of this year in 65 municipalities in BiH, and on the representative sample of 1.600 adult citizens of BiH.
Investigations show that more than 25 million KM is being put aside for financing political parties from different levels of the Government in BiH, so the legislative frame in this field is unclear and contradictory, and the institutions for observing application of legislative frame are inefficient.
In the TI they believe that such situation basically deteriorates democratic process and it will additionally express itself on integrating problems of corruption in the country.
