The Declaration on cooperation in the process of modernizing public administration has been signed on Friday in Belgrade by departmental ministers of Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Slovenia and Albania. Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia will sign this document afterwards.

This declaration will contribute to the improvement of long-term forms of cooperation and the exchange of experiences with further support of regional institutions and initiatives in this area. This document has been signed in a frame of the two-day regional conference in Belgrade under the title "Services, skills and capacities – key challenges in building a modern public administration in Europe".

One of the conference introducers was Mrs. Semiha Borovac, Public Administration Reform Coordinator in BiH, who has talked about the reform sustainability and the effective usage of development assistance.

The conference has enabled the exchange of experiences, approaches, good practice and lessons between the countries at ministerial and expert level and the discussion on experiences of the EU Member States.

One of the conference objectives was increasing the awareness of decision-makers and creators of public opinion in the region on necessity of ensuring the support for a continual improvement of public administration and making sure that the level of public expenditures remain in a frame of the economically acceptable limits, with the goal of establishing a quality public administration harmonized with the demands of modern and the citizen directed public administration.

This conference has gathered 200 participants from the countries of Ex Yugoslavia and Albania.
