On Wednesday, August 12, 2020, as an online event, a round table “LGBTQI rights and open government in BiH” was held, organized by the German GIZ and the Public Administration Reform Coordinator’s Office (PARCO).

The event presented key findings and recommendations from the research conducted within the pilot project “Inclusion of LGBTQI issues in open government approaches in BiH”, which can be found in the publication “LGBTQI issues, public administration reform and open government in Bosnia and Herzegovina “.

The research findings and recommendations were the basis for a productive discussion on the potential for including issues related to the LGBTQI community in BiH in the efforts of the government and civil society for a more open administration in BiH.

The event was attended by representatives of relevant state institutions in BiH, the international community and domestic civil society organizations that advocate for the human rights of LGBTI people, as well as activists.

Participants in the round table were Emina Bošnjak and Vladana Vasić from the Sarajevo Open Center, Andreas Pavlou from the Open Government Partnership, Saša Leskovac from the BiH Agency for Gender Equality, and Vildan Hadžihasanović from the BiH Ministry of Justice.

On behalf of the organizers, Elvis Mujanović and Lena Ahrens from the German GIZ, and Mubera Begić from the Public Administration Reform Coordinator’s Office addressed the audience.

At the beginning of the event, the authors of the report, Emina Bošnjak and Vladana Vasić, presented the key findings of this research, as well as the recommendations given by both BiH institutions and the LGBTQI community itself to create a more open administration.

The round table was organized within the pilot project ″ Inclusion of LGBTQI issues in open government approaches in BiH ″ which is implemented within the Program for Strengthening Public Institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is implemented by GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Government and the Government of Great Britain.
