The Public Administration Reform Coordinator’s Office and the Support for Improvement in Governance and Management (SIGMA) organise the conference “Public Administration Reform Challenges in BiH”, which will take place on 31st January 2018 at 10 o’clock, in the Courtyard Marriot hotel in Sarajevo.

The 2017 Public Administration of Bosnia and Herzegovina Progress Report, prepared by the SIGMA / the OECD will be presented at the conference. The Report gives an overview of the condition in public administration of Bosnia and Herzegovina in six areas of Public Administration Principles, and recommendations for further improvement of administration in accordance with the best principles of good governance, applied by the European Union member states. At the same time, the conference is also an opportunity to inform you on the challenges the countries face in the process of public administration reform and further directions of administration development.

At the request of the European Commission, the  SIGMA developed a set of Public Administration Principles, based on which, in 2015, a first report was drafted – baseline measurement of the public administration in  Bosnia and Herzegovina in relation to these principles. During 2017, the SIGMA, with the support of the Public Administration Reform Coordinator’s Office, and the BiH institutions of all the levels of authority drafted a new analysis of the condition, based on which a Progress Report was drafted.

The SIGMA Report is an important tool in evaluation of the achieved progress in development of public administration of our country and strengthening of its readiness to join the European Union. At the same time, this is one of the instruments of the European Union for promotion of values of the European administrative space in the enlargement process countries.
