Dnevni avaz: SARAJEVO – The Council of Ministers of BiH will very soon consider the Draft Law on the Fiscal Council of BiH. This was confirmed by Aleksandar Obradović, the advisor of the Chairman of the Council of Minister, Nikola Špirić.

Adjustment of the state and entity governments on founding of the fiscal council lasts for more than two years.

“Ongoing are certain activities related with establishment of the agreed upon Draft Law on the Fiscal Council. I believe that it will be on the agenda of the Council of Ministers very soon“, said Obradović.

The task of the Council is harmonisation of fiscal policy

The Fiscal Council of BiH is a body in which entity and state prime ministers and ministers of finances should work.

Its task is to harmonize fiscal policies on all the levels of authority so it would not happen that different levels of authority provide the money for the same purposes, while some needs stay uncovered. The Law on Fiscal Council is one of the priority tasks of BiH on the way to the EU.

Entity governments few months ago sent their proposals of the Law on Fiscal Council, which will have a coordination role in creation of the Budget in BiH. Official sponsor of this Law will be the Presidency of BiH.

“Draft law on the Fiscal Council was considered by the Board for Economic Matters of the Council of Ministers. It has been concluded that minor adjustments of formal-legal nature are needed. So, I think we are very close to agreement on this Law. I think it will be on the agenda of the Council of Ministers of BiH immediately after the appointment of the ministers and their deputies is confirmed”, they said in the Council of Ministers.

Dragan Vrankić, the Minister of Finances and Treasury of BiH, confirmed that state and entity governments almost completely agreed the Draft Law on Fiscal Council of BiH.

“There are no essential disagreements. We should have founded the Fiscal Council long time ago and that is why I expect the Law to be discussed and adopted as soon as possible”, said Vrankić.
